VOKJJ Care: Six Steps to Maintain Your Suit
-
Dry Clean as the Primary Method
When cleaning your suit, dry cleaning is preferred to prevent fabric fibers from distorting and avoid the damage that water washing may cause. This method extends the lifespan of the suit. However, it’s important to avoid over-dry cleaning. Typically, suits should only be dry-cleaned when transitioning seasons or when stained. Frequent dry cleaning can weaken the fabric fibers over time.
2. Avoid Wearing the Same Suit Consecutively
Fabric fibers can become deformed from tension when worn repeatedly. Therefore, it’s recommended to have two or three suits in rotation, allowing each one to rest and return to its original shape after wear.
3. Wrinkle Removal Methods
Besides using a steam iron to remove wrinkles, if you don’t have access to an iron, hang your suit in a slightly humid environment to let steam help remove wrinkles. However, don’t leave the suit in a high-humidity environment for too long, as excessive moisture can affect the suit’s shape and structure.
4. Simple Cleaning with a Brush
For dust removal, use a natural soft-bristled brush. It’s recommended to brush your suit after every wear to reduce dust accumulation and protect the fabric fibers, thereby extending the suit’s lifespan.
5. Use a Proper Hanger for Storage
When not in use, the best way to store your suit is by using a wide, curved hanger specifically designed for suits. This helps maintain the suit’s shape. Afterward, place the suit in a garment bag and store it in a well-ventilated area.
6. Avoid Putting Items in the Pockets
Placing items like phones or wallets in the outer pockets can cause the suit to lose its shape. If you need to store small items, it’s better to place them in the inner pockets of the suit.
